Best Pregnancy Skincare Routine ~ Clean and Natural

Pregnancy glow is a real thing. However, for some women, pregnancy can cause some unwanted skin issues, like hormonal acne, melasma, and stretch marks. It’s natural to want to look and feel your best during pregnancy, but it’s important to choose clean beauty products for the best pregnancy skincare routine—especially at this amazing time!

Fortunately, it isn’t difficult to make the switch to gentle products that are natural, safe, and non-toxic. As an Ithaca maternity photographer and holistic esthetician, I’ve developed a line of clean and natural beauty products at my Ithaca spa especially for expecting mothers. Here’s what I recommend as the best pregnancy skincare routine—perfect for both you and that little life inside!

Best Pregnancy Skincare Routine & Products

Cleansing

Beautiful skin starts with cleansing. Our Maple Crème face wash is perfect for all types of skin—even the most sensitive. Use this crème morning and night to gently wash away makeup, oil, and impurities.

Refreshing

After cleansing, a refreshing mist with our Rose Geranium organic mist can refresh your skin and restore a healthy ph balance.

Treating

If you have dry or flaky skin, follow up with a few drops of Rosehip Carrot organic facial oil massaged gently into your face, neck, and décolletage. (If you have some left over after baby is born, this oil also works wonders on baby’s diaper rash!)

Moisturizing

The last step in your daily pregnancy skincare routine is to moisturize. For this, I recommend our light and luscious Hibiscus face cream (both morning and night). It’s perfect for any skin type.

Exfoliation

And, while it shouldn’t be done every day, exfoliation is another important part of your skincare regime, helping to remove dead skin and promote circulation for a healthy glow. I recommend using our Petals and Grits organic face scrub, mixed with Maple Crème wash, two to three times a week before you go to bed.

Pregnancy Self-Care

Self-care during pregnancy is essential! In addition to following a clean and natural pregnancy skincare routine, treat yourself to some pampering and treats.

Pamper Yourself with a Soothing Facial

For me, one of the ultimate forms of pregnancy self-care is a facial. My favorites for expecting mothers, offered at our Ithaca spa:

  • Signature facials (30, 60, or 90 minutes)

A quick note: There are a few services you may want to avoid during pregnancy, simply because they have not been tested on expecting mothers. These include:

  • Chemical peels
  • High frequency
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Microneedling
  • Galvanic current
